About

Jackie Dotson

Psychotherapist. Triathlete. Writer. Travel and wine enthusiast. Born, raised and educated in New York City. I currently run my own practice in Sacramento, California.

I have an insatiable interest in business and entrepreneurialism, specifically how to responsibly use business to make the world better. I found my niche working with business owners because I am fascinated with all of the details that go into running a business and the dynamics of business relationships.

Twenty years ago, I worked in a family business, where we all worked together running a small restaurant. This is where I got my start in mediating arguments between workers and also learned how to talk to angry customers. Working in a family business is very challenging, but can also be a lot of fun.

I’ve lived in Sacramento, California for eleven years now, with my husband and dog. I love Sacramento. It has a lot of the things I loved about NY, but with better weather, great wine and coffee, not to mention more parking.

I am also a writer. I am the Sacramento Small Business Examiner for examiner.com where I write on a variety of topics related to small business in Sacramento. I also hold a weekly podcast called “The Powder Keg of Awesome” where my co-host and I riff on how to make stuff go in the world.
