Jackie Dotson, LCSW, Sacramento Therapist

4825 J Street, Suite 223, Sacramento, CA 95819, 916-454-1021

I was born, raised and educated in New York City and have lived in (and love) Sacramento, California for seven years. I graduated with a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University in 1999 and a bachelor's degree in History in 1996, also from NYU. In my undergraduate program, I also studied journalism, political science and Irish studies. In my master's program at NYU, I focused on studying individual and group psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. I interned in the mental health outpatient clinics at both South Beach Psychiatric Center and Coney Island Hospital Department of Psychiatry in Brooklyn, New York. I am a licensed master social worker in the state of New York, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of California, which is the highest level of license in the state.

Prior to entering private practice, I provided therapy in a variety of settings. I worked on an inpatient psychiatric unit in New York with adolescents and adults. For three years, I worked with adolescents in a residential treatment program here in Sacramento. I have worked in a partial hospitalization program providing group therapy to adults in Sacramento and I've also worked providing psychiatric evaluations for area emergency departments. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a newspaper editor and also spent eight years in the restaurant industry. Outside of work, I race in triathlons and I enjoy traveling, good food and skiing.

Using all of these experiences, I now have a private practice in East Sacramento where I help people who are worried and overwhelmed with anxiety. I help them to have more energy, less anxiety and greater control over their lives. Yes, you can lead a full and productive life without being exhausted and worried all the time.
